Landing page design · For paid ads · Australia

Landing page design for paid ads, judged on what each click earns.

A landing page for paid traffic has one job: turn the click you paid for into a sale or an enquiry. We design and build landing pages inside our conversion rate optimisation engagement, written to match the ad that sends the traffic, whether it runs on Google, Meta, LinkedIn or TikTok, then tracked before launch and tested against contribution margin rather than form fills. Quoted in writing once we have talked it through on a free 30-minute call.

Context

Why paid traffic needs its own landing page.

When you pay for every visitor, the page they land on decides what the click was worth. A home page is written for everyone who might arrive. A landing page is written for one ad, one search and one offer, so the person who clicked sees what the ad promised before they scroll, with one obvious next step.

Australian click prices make the difference expensive. Google's Keyword Planner showed top-of-page bids of $12.20 to $68.11 for 'emergency plumber' and $9.24 to $36.36 for 'family lawyer' when we pulled them on 1 October 2026. At those prices, a page that loses visitors to a slow load, a vague headline or a form that fails on a phone costs money every day the ads run.

Benchmarks give a sense of range, not a target. Unbounce's 2024 report puts the median landing page at 6.6 percent, and LocaliQ's 2026 figures put the average search ad at 8.18 percent of clicks becoming leads. What your page needs to convert depends on your click price and your margin, so that is the sum we run before anything is designed.

Deliverables

What a landing page from us includes.

  • 01

A page for each offer or ad theme that carries real spend, written to match the ads and searches that send the traffic: the same promise, the same wording and the same price.

  • 02

The offer and the proof above the fold, a form or call button that works properly with one thumb, and a page built to load quickly on mobile.

  • 03

Tracking checked before launch: GA4 key events, Google Ads enhanced conversions, Meta Conversions API, call tracking where calls matter, and conversion tracking for any other channel sending traffic, such as LinkedIn or TikTok, reconciled against your CRM so a test result can be trusted.

  • 04

Research behind every change: what visitors actually do on the page, from recordings and heatmaps in Hotjar or Microsoft Clarity, where they give up on the form, and the objections your sales team hears.

  • 05

A test plan sized to your traffic. We work out how long a test would take to call a winner before any variant is built, and where the numbers don't add up, we make the fix without a test.

  • 06

Results reported on contribution margin as well as conversion rate, with the winning version shipped and a written playbook your team keeps.

Services

Where landing pages sit in the work we do.

Landing pages are one part of conversion rate optimisation. These are the pieces around them, run by the same senior team on the same numbers.

  • Landing page design

Pages written and built for one ad, one search and one offer, on the platform your site already runs on.

  • A/B and split testing

Run only when there is enough traffic to call a winner, in whichever testing tool you already use.

More on A/B and split testing
  • Conversion tracking

GA4, Google Ads enhanced conversions, Meta Conversions API and call tracking, checked against your CRM before any result is trusted.

    More on Conversion tracking
  • Website builds

For when the whole site needs replacing, not one page. Quoted after a call; a typical site goes from kickoff to launch in two to three weeks.

    More on Website builds

We write and build the landing pages. Day-to-day content beyond them, such as organic social posts, is best left with your team or a specialist we can point you to.

Side by side

How this differs from hiring a landing page designer.

A typical landing page job

  • Starts from a template
  • Judged on how the page looks
  • Counts form fills as success
  • Launches without checking the tracking
  • Hands over the page and moves on

Profit Geeks

  • Starts from the ad and the search behind it
  • Judged on margin per visitor
  • Follows enquiries through to sales where the CRM allows
  • Checks the tracking before launch
  • Tests, ships the winner and hands over a playbook

Who this is for

  • Spending meaningfully on Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn or TikTok, typically $20K or more a month
  • Sending paid traffic to a home page or a general service page
  • Has working tracking, or will let us fix it first
  • Wants each page judged on revenue or booked work, not on looks

Who it isn't

  • Needs a whole new website first (we build those too, quoted separately after a call)
  • Wants a page designed and handed over without tracking or testing
  • Has no paid traffic to send to the page yet
  • Below $2M in revenue, with the offer still unproven

Proof, in numbers

The numbers our CRO work runs on.

How our conversion rate optimisation engagements are set up, and what the measurement behind them usually finds. They describe how we work, not a forecast for your page.

  • Within 5%

How closely platform conversions must match the CRM for testing to start straight away

  • 23% → <5%

Meta-reported revenue against CRM revenue: the usual gap before a tracking rebuild, and after

  • Weeks 4 to 6

When first test results usually arrive in a CRO engagement

  • Months 3 to 6

When gains usually start to compound across the funnel

What you actually buy

One piece of work. Twelve weeks. It starts with a free call.

Which of these sounds like your week?

  • Meta says one number, Google says another, the CRM says a third, and the bank says something else again.
  • The leads come in and most of them are rubbish.
  • Traffic is fine. Not enough of them buy.
  • You cannot spend more without losing margin.
  • Something is wrong and you cannot say what.

All five are the same job. We do not sell five products for them. We sell one rebuild, and the free call is where we work out which part of it you need first.

00 · Free

Run your own numbers

Six calculators and an attribution reference. Work out your break-even ROAS, your CAC payback, and whether the spend is structurally profitable, before you talk to anyone. The calculators need no signup.

01 · Free · 30 minutes

The profit audit call

A senior operator looks at your real spend, revenue and attribution gap on a call. You leave with a written fix list you keep, whether or not we ever work together. No deck, no follow-up sales sequence. We reply within one business day with three times to choose from.

02 · Optional · Two weeks

The two-week diagnostic

Read-only. We change nothing in your accounts. Every tag, event and consent rule mapped and written up: 20 to 35 pages, every issue rated P0 to P3 with an engineering-day estimate, and a 90-minute walk-through on day twelve. Yours to hand to us, your own team, or your existing agency. About a third of clients run this first, then decide.

03 · The engagement · Twelve weeks

The twelve-week rebuild

Twelve weekly 90-minute working sessions with you and your operating team, plus the build work those sessions identify. Measurement rebuilt server-side so the reports reconcile to the bank. The funnel worked where the leak actually is. Scaling rules tied to contribution margin, not platform ROAS. At week twelve your team gets a written playbook and operates it without us, with a quarterly check-in for six months included.

What it costs

Four things set the number

  • The size of your stack
  • How many ad platforms are live
  • The state of your CRM integration
  • How many service lines and locations you run

Two things do not

  • Your industry
  • How much you spend on ads

Revenue only matters because a bigger business is usually a bigger scope. We do not price off a percentage of it. We charge for the work, not for what you look like you can afford.

How it is billedFixed scope, quoted in a written proposal after the call, paid in instalments across the engagement. No hourly billing, no retainer, nothing that renews on its own.

Included at no extra costThe written playbook at handover, and a quarterly check-in for six months after the engagement closes.

Proof, with the working shown

We'd rather show you the maths than the buzzwords.

“Profit Geeks rebuilt our whole sales engine, and not just the ad accounts. They went after the systems sitting behind them too. Sales are up 140% and we've pushed past $25M. Honestly the bit I didn't see coming was the operation running leaner than it did back when we were half the size.”
Founder, health & safety equipment brandSales +140%, past $25M
“We were quietly bleeding about a thousand dollars a week and had no idea why. They found the leaks, sorted out the measurement and the offer, and now we'll do more than $10K in a single day. Same product. Completely different business.”
Founder, oral care brand−$1K/week → $10K+/day
“We went from scraping together two installs a week to running four crews and fifteen-plus jobs a week, north of $10M turnover. The clever bit was they tied the scaling to what we could actually deliver, so growth never broke the operation. Booked jobs, not vanity leads.”
Owner, solar installation company2 → 15+ jobs/week, $10M+ turnover
“After iOS, our Meta numbers stopped matching the bank, and we'd basically been writing the gap off as “just tracking.” Profit Geeks rebuilt our measurement server-side and reconciled it straight back to the P&L. Turned out about $1.42M of ad spend in year one had been working all along. They're the first team that showed me the maths instead of a dashboard.”
Founder, DTC apparel brand, Melbourne$1.42M ad spend recovered, year one
“We didn’t spend a dollar more on ads. What they did was fix how we counted a booked job versus a platform “conversion,” cut the wasted spend, and by week twelve our blended ROAS had more than tripled. Revenue went from $4.8M to $9.1M. Same senior bloke on every call too. No juniors, no relay race.”

Reasonable questions

What you're probably thinking.

01

We've been burned by an agency before.

Most of our intake has. The difference is structural. A senior operator runs your account, not a junior hidden behind a dashboard, and you leave the first call with written findings you own even if we never work together. No relay race, no account manager translating between you and the people doing the work.

02

How do I know it'll actually work for my business?

You don't yet, and neither do we until we've seen your numbers. That's why the first step is a diagnostic, not a contract. We've documented this in DTC and home services (the case studies show the full working) and run the same playbook in professional services. If the maths isn't there for you, we'll tell you on the call.

03

What if there's nothing worth fixing?

Then you've spent thirty minutes and walked away with a second opinion that cost you nothing. We'd rather say no than take on an engagement we can't earn, so we turn away intake that isn't a fit. There's no pitch and no follow-up sales sequence.

04

What does it cost, and what am I signing up for?

One fixed-scope engagement fee, billed in instalments. No per-channel markup, no retainer fluff. The same senior operators handle measurement, media and margin, and scaling is tied to your contribution margin, so spend only climbs when the numbers say it's working. The call is where we scope what that looks like for you.

Frequently asked

What operators ask before booking the call.

What is the best way to design a landing page?

Start from the ad, not a template. Write down what the ad or search promised, then build the page so the visitor sees that promise, the offer and a reason to trust you before they scroll. Someone arriving from a Google search came looking for an answer; someone arriving from Meta, LinkedIn or TikTok was interrupted while scrolling, so the page has to explain the offer before it asks for anything. Keep one action per page, make the form or call button easy to use with a thumb, and make sure the page loads fast on mobile. Then judge it on sales or booked work, because a page that lifts form fills can still lower revenue if the extra enquiries are poor.

How much should I pay for a landing page?

It depends on what the page has to do, so be wary of a price quoted before anyone has looked at your ads and tracking. The cost moves with how many offers need their own page, whether the copy and proof already exist, how much tracking needs fixing first, and whether you want the page tested. We build and test landing pages inside a fixed-scope conversion rate optimisation engagement, set out in a written proposal once we have had the free call, and never priced as a percentage of your ad spend. A whole new website is quoted on its own.

How the CRO engagement works

What are common landing page mistakes?

Five come up again and again: sending paid traffic to the home page; a headline that doesn't repeat what the ad said; a form that asks for more than the first conversation needs, or breaks on a phone; a page that loads slowly on mobile; and tracking that counts page views or form views as conversions. The last one costs the most, because it hides the other four.

What is a good landing page conversion rate?

Unbounce's 2024 benchmark report found a median of 6.6 percent from more than 41,000 landing pages, and in LocaliQ's 2026 data the average search ad turned 8.18 percent of clicks into leads. A good rate for your page is one that beats your break-even, which is what you pay per click divided by what a conversion is worth to you in profit.

Can AI create landing pages?

It can produce a reasonable first draft of a layout and copy in minutes. What it can't do is know what your ad promised, which offer makes you money, whether your tracking counts the right thing, or which change to test first. Use AI to save drafting time, and keep someone who knows the account in charge of the page.

Do I need a landing page or a new website?

If paid traffic lands on a site that otherwise works, a landing page is usually the quicker fix. If the whole site is slow, hard to use on a phone or impossible to track, the site comes first. We build those too: quoted after a call, with a typical build taking two to three weeks from kickoff to launch. For trade businesses, the tradie website page explains what a build includes.

Tradie websites: what a build includes

How do you test a landing page without much traffic?

Mostly by fixing rather than testing. With low volume an A/B test can run for months and still return noise, so we fix defects first, such as a form that fails on mobile or a page that takes too long to load, and use session recordings and sales-call objections to decide what to change. Testing the ads and the offer is often quicker, because the ads collect far more impressions than the page collects visits.

What is the best tool to create a landing page?

Usually the one your site already runs on. Moving platforms takes time, can break tracking, and rarely fixes what is wrong with the page. We build on what you have, and run tests in the testing tool you already use where one is in place.

What happens after you book

Three steps. No mystery.

  1. Step 01 · Within 1 business day

    30-minute audit call

A senior operator on the call. We look at your real numbers, spend, revenue, attribution gap, and tell you on the call whether the rebuild is worth doing for you and where it would start. No pitch deck.

  2. Step 02 · Within 1 week

    Written proposal

Fixed scope, fixed number, written up. The proposal names deliverables, timeline, the people involved, and the price. No hourly billing, no retainer drift.

  3. Step 03 · Within 2 weeks

    Engagement starts

Senior operators from day one. The measurement rebuild starts, we take over day-to-day buying on the channels we can measure, and the first working session lands. Inside two weeks of the call.

Next step

Bring the ad and the page it lands on.

Book a free 30-minute profit audit with your highest-spending campaign and the page it sends traffic to. A senior operator will check whether the page matches the ad, whether the tracking counts the right thing, and what your click price says the page needs to convert. Whatever you decide, the written findings stay with you.
