What the market charges

Google Ads management in Australia, from our own cost guide.

General market ranges, not quotes, and not our prices. They are the closest published benchmark for what an agency charges to run paid media, so they are a fair thing to hold any quote against.

10 to 20%

of ad spend

The usual Google Ads management fee on the percentage model. The percentage tends to fall as spend rises.

$1,500 to $3,000

a month

A typical flat retainer for managing a small Google Ads account.

$3,000 to $8,000

a month

A typical flat retainer for a mid-sized account with several campaign types. Larger or multi-market accounts run above it.

Meta has no equivalent fee benchmark in our guides, but the media cost is published: broad consumer audiences in Australia commonly cost $8 to $25 per thousand impressions, before any agency fee.

How we charge

One fixed fee for the agreed scope. Never a percentage of your spend.

  1. 01

A fixed fee for the agreed scope

The proposal names the channels, the systems, the deliverables, the people and the fee. The fee covers that scope, and it does not move when your ad budget does.

  2. 02

Never a percentage of your ad spend

A percentage pays an agency more for spending more of your money, and less for cutting a campaign that is not working. A fixed fee removes that pull, so telling you to spend less costs us nothing.

  3. 03

Quoted in writing, after a free call

The free 30-minute profit audit is where we see your spend, revenue and tracking. The written proposal comes after it. Nothing is priced before we have seen the numbers, because a price given without them is a guess.

  4. 04

    No published rate card

Scope is what costs money, and scope varies more than spend does. A trade business with one job management system and two ad platforms is a smaller job than a retailer on three platforms and two CRMs, even when the budgets match. One price list would overcharge the first and undercharge the second.

What it costs

Four things set the number

  • The size of your stack
  • How many ad platforms are live
  • The state of your CRM integration
  • How many service lines and locations you run

Two things do not

  • Your industry
  • How much you spend on ads

Revenue only matters because a bigger business is usually a bigger scope. We do not price off a percentage of it. We charge for the work, not for what you look like you can afford.

How it is billedOngoing management is a fixed fee for the agreed scope. Fixed-scope projects, such as the twelve-week rebuild and CRO, are paid in instalments. Everything is quoted in one written proposal after the call. No hourly billing and no percentage of ad spend.

Included at no extra costThe written playbook and decision log, yours to keep whether we run the account or your team takes it in-house. The twelve-week rebuild also includes a quarterly check-in for six months after it closes.

If your spend is too small for our fee to pay for itself, we say so on the call.

What sets the cost

What moves the price of each kind of marketing work.

These hold whoever you hire. Two quotes for the same service can differ a long way for good reasons, and these are usually the reasons.

Google Ads management

Two costs: the clicks you pay Google for, and the fee for running the account.

  • How many campaigns and campaign types run (Search, Performance Max, Shopping)
  • How many locations, service lines or product ranges need their own structure
  • Whether conversion tracking works, or has to be rebuilt first
  • Whether booked jobs or sales are uploaded back from the CRM

Facebook and Instagram ads

Broad consumer audiences in Australia commonly cost $8 to $25 per thousand impressions. The agency fee sits on top.

  • How much new creative the account needs each month
  • How many audiences, regions and offers run at once
  • Whether the Conversions API is sending server-side events
  • Whether a product catalogue or feed has to be managed

SEO and AEO

Priced on the work the site needs, not on a ranking promise.

  • How large the site is, and how sound it is technically
  • How competitive the searches you want to win are
  • How much content has to be written or rewritten
  • Local or national, and whether AI search (AEO) is in scope
How we approach SEO and AI search

Websites

A brochure site and a site that takes bookings are different jobs, even when they look alike.

  • How many page types and templates the site needs
  • Integrations such as booking, quoting or job management software
  • Whether it sells online
  • Who writes the copy

Who our fee pays for

The fee has to pay for itself. This is where it usually does.

Most businesses

$2M to $20M in revenue

Australian businesses turning over $2M to $20M a year, with $20K or more a month going into paid acquisition. Below that, our fee is usually too large a share of what the work can return.

Trade businesses

From about $1,500 a month in spend

Trades start lower: from $500K in revenue and about $1,500 a month in ad spend. There are fewer channels and fewer systems to connect, usually the job management software, call tracking and the Google Business Profile, so the scope is smaller and so is the fee.

How we work with trade businesses

Below those levels, the free tools are a better first step than a proposal. They run the same break-even maths we use on the call.

Frequently asked

The cost questions we hear most.

How much should I pay someone to manage my Google Ads?

Pay a fee you can see coming back as profit. The market gives you two reference points. On the percentage model, 10 to 20 percent of what you spend with Google, sliding down as spend grows. On a flat retainer, around $1,500 to $3,000 a month for a small account and $3,000 to $8,000 for a mid-sized one, with larger or multi-market accounts above that. Turn whichever you are quoted into dollars, then ask what the account must return, after ad spend and cost of goods, to cover it. The return Google reports is not that number. Our fee is fixed for the agreed scope and never moves with your spend.

How much do marketing agencies charge in Australia?

Agencies charge in five common ways: a percentage of ad spend, a flat monthly retainer, a fixed project fee, hourly or daily rates, or a performance or hybrid deal with part of the fee tied to results. The clearest published benchmark is for paid media. Our Google Ads cost guide finds most management priced at 10 to 20 percent of spend, or as a retainer of roughly $1,500 to $3,000 a month for small accounts and $3,000 to $8,000 for mid-sized ones. Strategy, SEO, creative and websites are often quoted separately. Compare quotes on what is included and who does the work, not only on the monthly number.

How much does it cost to hire a Facebook ad agency?

There are two separate costs. The agency fee usually follows the same models as Google Ads management, a percentage of ad spend or a flat monthly retainer, and creative production is sometimes charged on top. Then there is what Meta charges to show the ads. Our Facebook cost guide puts reaching broad consumer audiences in Australia at roughly $8 to $25 for every thousand impressions, with B2B and finance audiences dearer. Size the budget from what Meta needs to learn. It wants about 50 optimisation events per ad set per week to leave the learning phase, so at a $40 cost per purchase one ad set needs about $2,000 a week. That last figure is arithmetic, not a benchmark.

Is $10 a day enough for Google Ads?

For most businesses, no. Google can spend up to twice your daily budget on a busy day, but caps the month at 30.4 times it, so $10 a day comes to about $304 a month. Divide that by your cost per click. In the Keyword Planner data we pulled in October 2026, bid ranges for common trade searches ran from $2 a click at the cheap end to $71 at the dear end, so the same $304 buys anywhere from a handful of clicks to around 150. Google's Target CPA guidance works on about 30 conversions in 30 days per campaign; on $304, each of those would have to cost about $10, counting the clicks that never convert. That is a test budget, and $20 a day only doubles it. The trade businesses we work with start from about $1,500 a month in spend.

How much does SEO cost in Australia?

SEO is priced on the work a site needs, so two quotes can differ a long way for good reasons. What drives it: how large the site is and how sound it is technically, how competitive the searches you want are, how much content needs writing or rewriting, whether the target is local or national, and whether answer engine optimisation for AI search is included. Be wary of a low monthly price with no named deliverables, and of anyone who promises rankings. When we run SEO, it sits inside the fixed fee for the agreed scope and is scored on enquiries and revenue rather than keyword positions.

How much does a website cost?

It depends on what the site has to do. A few service pages and a contact form is a different job from a site that takes bookings, connects to job management software or sells online, and who writes the copy matters too. We quote website builds after the free call, on whichever platform suits the business. A typical build takes two to three weeks from kickoff to launch. After launch, a monthly care plan covers hosting, updates and small changes, so the site does not drift out of date.

Is it worth it to hire a marketing agency?

It is worth it when the work returns more profit than the fee costs, and you can check that from your own records. Before hiring anyone, work out what a customer costs you and what one is worth, using your accounts or CRM rather than the ad platforms. If those numbers reconcile and you need the work done every week, an agency can earn its fee. If they do not, fix the measurement first, because an agency will otherwise spend against numbers nobody trusts. If your spend is too small for our fee to pay for itself, we say so on the free call rather than take the work.

How much does Profit Geeks charge?

A fixed fee for the agreed scope, quoted in a written proposal after the free 30-minute profit audit. We do not publish a rate card, because the fee follows the size of the work: your stack, how many ad platforms are live, the state of your CRM integration, and how many service lines and locations you run. Your industry and your ad spend do not move it, and it is never a percentage of your spend. Ongoing management is a fixed fee for the agreed scope; projects such as the twelve-week rebuild are paid in instalments.

What happens after you book

Three steps. No mystery.

  1. Step 01 · Within 1 business day

    30-minute audit call

A senior operator on the call. We look at your real numbers, spend, revenue, attribution gap, and tell you on the call whether the rebuild is worth doing for you and where it would start. No pitch deck.

  2. Step 02 · Within 1 week

    Written proposal

Fixed scope, fixed number, written up. The proposal names deliverables, timeline, the people involved, and the price. No hourly billing, no retainer drift.

  3. Step 03 · Within 2 weeks

    Engagement starts

Senior operators from day one. The measurement rebuild starts, we take over day-to-day buying on the channels we can measure, and the first working session lands. Inside two weeks of the call.

Next step

Bring your numbers. Leave with a written answer.

The free 30-minute profit audit is where pricing stops being general. A senior operator looks at your spend, revenue and tracking, tells you whether our fee would pay for itself, and puts the findings in writing for you to keep. We reply within one business day with three times to choose from.
