Law firm web design · Websites for Australian law practices
Law firm web design that starts with intake, not the homepage.
A prospective client lands on a practice-area page, looks for signs that you handle their kind of matter, then rings or fills in a form. We build law firm websites around that path: a page for each practice area, enquiry forms that collect what a conflict check needs and route by matter type, calls tracked by practice area, and copy your firm signs off against rule 36 of the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules. Quoted after a free call and usually built in two to three weeks.

How we build for law firms
Four things a law firm's website has to get right.
Principle 01
A page for each practice area
People search for the kind of lawyer they need, not for a firm. In our October 2026 Keyword Planner pull, 'conveyancer' drew about 22,200 Australian searches a month and 'family lawyer' 12,100, while 'criminal lawyer', 'employment lawyer', 'immigration lawyer' and 'divorce lawyer' drew about 3,600 each. Each practice area you want more matters in gets a page that explains what you handle, how a first consultation works and how the firm approaches fees, so the search and the page match.
Principle 02
Intake is the main feature
Most legal enquiries arrive by phone or form, and the first contact decides whether the matter can be taken at all. Forms ask for the matter type, the state and the other party's name, so the firm can run a conflict check before anyone shares confidential details, and they say plainly that sending the form does not make the enquirer a client. Each enquiry routes to whoever handles that practice area, and after-hours enquiries get an immediate acknowledgement with when to expect a reply.
Principle 03
Written to rule 36, signed off by the firm
Rule 36 of the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules requires that advertising for a solicitor or law practice is not false, misleading or deceptive, offensive or prohibited by law. It also bars a solicitor from conveying a false impression of specialist expertise, or using 'accredited specialist' or a derivative such as post-nominals, without accreditation from the relevant professional association. A website is advertising. We draft against the rule and any state limits you flag, and nothing goes live until your firm approves it.
Principle 04
Every call traced to a practice area
A conveyance and a commercial dispute are worth very different amounts, so one blended enquiry count tells the partners little. Calls are tracked by the practice-area page they came from, forms record the matter type, and every enquiry is logged with its source from launch day. If you advertise, the optional tracking setup carries consultations and opened matters back from your practice management system to Google Ads.
Deliverables
What goes into a law firm website from us.
01
A page for each practice area and location you want more work from, written in plain language and drafted against rule 36 for your firm to sign off.
02
Intake forms that capture the matter type, the state and the other party's name for a conflict check, ask people not to send documents or detailed facts yet, and state that an enquiry does not make them a client.
03
Lawyer profiles that show admission details and practice areas, and accreditation only where it is held, so every specialist claim matches the rules.
04
Call tracking by practice area and enquiry tracking from launch day, with consultations and matters able to flow back from LEAP, Smokeball, Actionstep or your practice management system once the tracking setup is in place.
05
LegalService structured data and firm details that match your Google Business Profile for each office, so search engines and AI answers describe the firm accurately.
06
Fast pages built for phones first, and a monthly care plan after launch for hosting, updates and small changes, such as a new lawyer's profile or changed office hours.
Who this is for
- Australian law practice that wins new matters from search, referrals and the phone
- Several practice areas, each of which needs to be found on its own
- A principal or practice manager ready to sign off copy against the conduct rules
- Want enquiries routed and tracked by practice area from the day the site goes live
Who it isn't
- Want 'specialist' language for lawyers who are not accredited specialists
- Want personal injury content your state's restrictions do not allow
- Want a guaranteed ranking or a set number of new matters
How we work with law firms
Quoted after a free call: the build, the care plan, optional tracking.
A law firm website is priced on what goes into it: how many practice areas and offices need pages, whether profiles and copy exist or need writing, how intake should route to your team, what the forms connect to, and whether an existing site has to move without losing its rankings. The first step is a free 30-minute call, then a written quote. No prices are published here.
Website · Two to three weeks
The build
Practice-area and location pages, lawyer profiles, intake forms and routing, structured data and enquiry tracking from launch day, on the platform that suits the firm.
Care plan · Monthly
The care plan
Hosting, updates and small changes from launch, so new lawyers, practice areas and office hours go up without waiting on a developer.
Optional · Fixed fee
The tracking setup
Call tracking by practice area, enquiries matched to consultations and opened matters in your practice management system, and those outcomes sent back to Google Ads as offline conversions.
SEO and Google Ads after launch are ongoing management, quoted separately. Our law firm marketing page explains how that runs.

Run your numbers
Proof, with the working shown
We'd rather show you the maths than the buzzwords.
“Profit Geeks rebuilt our whole sales engine, and not just the ad accounts. They went after the systems sitting behind them too. Sales are up 140% and we've pushed past $25M. Honestly the bit I didn't see coming was the operation running leaner than it did back when we were half the size.”
“We were quietly bleeding about a thousand dollars a week and had no idea why. They found the leaks, sorted out the measurement and the offer, and now we'll do more than $10K in a single day. Same product. Completely different business.”
“We went from scraping together two installs a week to running four crews and fifteen-plus jobs a week, north of $10M turnover. The clever bit was they tied the scaling to what we could actually deliver, so growth never broke the operation. Booked jobs, not vanity leads.”
“After iOS, our Meta numbers stopped matching the bank, and we'd basically been writing the gap off as “just tracking.” Profit Geeks rebuilt our measurement server-side and reconciled it straight back to the P&L. Turned out about $1.42M of ad spend in year one had been working all along. They're the first team that showed me the maths instead of a dashboard.”
“We didn’t spend a dollar more on ads. What they did was fix how we counted a booked job versus a platform “conversion,” cut the wasted spend, and by week twelve our blended ROAS had more than tripled. Revenue went from $4.8M to $9.1M. Same senior bloke on every call too. No juniors, no relay race.”
Frequently asked
Eight questions about law firm websites.
What makes the best law firm website design?
Not the most polished homepage. The law firm websites that do the job have a page for each practice area that answers what a worried person needs to know, an obvious way to call or enquire, intake that collects what a conflict check needs, lawyer profiles that are accurate about accreditation, and tracking that shows which pages bring in matters. Look at any firm's site with those five in mind and the design question mostly answers itself.
How much does it cost to design a law firm website in Australia?
Law firm websites are quoted after a free call, since the cost follows the work: how many practice areas and offices need pages, whether copy and profiles exist, how intake should route, what the forms connect to and whether an old site needs redirects to keep its rankings. The written quote prices the build, the monthly care plan and the optional tracking setup as separate items.
What drives website cost in AustraliaWhat does rule 36 mean for a law firm website?
Your website is advertising, so rule 36 of the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules applies to every page. It must not be false, misleading or deceptive or likely to mislead, offensive or prohibited by law, and a solicitor must not convey a false impression of specialist expertise or use 'accredited specialist', or a derivative such as post-nominals, without accreditation from the relevant professional association. In practice that means checking outcome claims, fee statements, comparisons and team bios as carefully as any ad. This is general information, not legal advice: confirm anything borderline with your law society or legal regulator.
Law firm advertising rules, state by stateCan our website say a lawyer specialises in family law?
Only with care. Rule 36.2 bars conveying a false, misleading or deceptive impression of specialist expertise, and reserves 'accredited specialist' for lawyers accredited by the relevant professional association. If a lawyer holds accreditation, say so precisely. If not, describe the work factually, such as the matters they handle and how long they have practised in the area, without wording that implies accreditation. About 210 Australians a month search for 'accredited specialist family law', so the distinction matters to clients as well as regulators.
What rules apply to personal injury pages on a law firm website?
Stricter ones in some states. Queensland's Personal Injuries Proceedings Act counts a statement displayed on a website as published, and restricts how personal injury services can be advertised. On the firm's own website, personal injury advertising has to be limited to statements about the law of negligence and a person's rights under it, and the conditions on which the firm takes personal injury work. Other states set their own limits, so check yours, and your law society's guidance, before you publish.
The state-by-state rulesHow should a law firm website handle enquiries before a conflict check?
Collect enough to check, and no more. The form asks for the enquirer's name and contact details, the matter type, the state and the other party's name, and asks them not to send documents or detailed facts until the firm confirms it can act. It also says plainly that sending the form does not make them a client. Your firm sets the exact wording; we build the form, the routing and the acknowledgement around it.
Can the website connect to LEAP, Smokeball or Actionstep?
Usually, but the route depends on the system. Some publish an API a developer can build against, while others run integrations through a partner program, where the first step is often a connector or a scheduled export. Either way, an enquiry can land where your intake team already works, and with the tracking setup, consultations and opened matters can flow back to Google Ads. We confirm the route for your system on the call before promising it.
How long does it take to build a law firm website?
Usually two to three weeks, kickoff to launch. Sign-off is the usual bottleneck: practice-area copy and lawyer profiles need a principal's approval against the conduct rules, so agree at kickoff who signs off and how quickly.
